It's the paradox or curse of success....

Make a video because it's fun and maybe you'll make a little bread on the side to fund your slight gear addiction....do somewhat well and get a following and as a result audience expect or want more...now you have to spend off time researching where to go to make a more interesting video, even more followers, now its taking up more time than you planned, perhaps you should go full time.... take a drop in annual pay because you're now a full time Ytuber, so gotta make more money, do a few sponsored videos, gear talks etc, make them very obvious to continue that genuine feel that is naturally you, but also what attracted everyone, more success, more money, more gear sent your way, the comfort circle expands and before you know it you're holding gear raffles and filming product placement videos and making enough of them to do well...

It's also, in life we often aim for promotions in jobs, growing either ourselves or out businesses hoping to get ahead of the inflation etc...so it's natural they want to earn more, but the cost is they lose that raw simpleness that was attractive to start with.

I think a lot of people make videos to cope with perhaps their own mind. It keeps them occupied outdoors, forces them outdoors when their mental health drives them to lurk in bed, also a way of forming bonds with people without the anxiety of meeting people, validation etc...
