Does fairness exist?

Hey dude, don't give in, I just don't think they are being fair as I don't think fairness exists in any form, they are just going around rummaging through barns and sheds then selling stuff on, just because they did a nice thing, I would guess it was either out of guilt or just being nice, if they were fair wouldn't they have to do the same deal for every single item they sold?:)

I think fairness exists. However, two different people may have very different ideas of what fairness is, and sometimes it can take a long while to figure out in your mind what is fair and what is not.

Cows have no concept of death.

But fair is where all partys are satisfied.

(Was it Darwin?) describes a trade where a Tribesman swaps a string of fish for a red hankercheif. He is sad that so much good food would be given for a penny hankerchief, but then visualises this primitive showing his prize to awed family and friends saying. `look at this wonderful new item and all it cost me was half a days fishing!`

I think perhaps you are illustrating my point, but as I am unsure of your point I'm afraid you have me at an unfair advantage.

My point was being born a King does not confer benefit that cannot be changed. A king is only a king as long as society allows them to be king. You cannot in the modern world make yourself a king. In the old world, the bloke with the biggest gang was king.

If we don't want someone to be king, we can lop off their head (Charles 1 style) or declare ourselves a republic (USA style). The idea of

Macro unfairness is illustrated by a situational benefit that one cannot change - ie. you are born into royalty, no matter what I do, or how suitable for the job I may be I will never be King of England

is erroneous. If we don't like the idea of iherited rank, we (as a society) can stop it. We simply choose not to.

But on an individual level, it is nigh on impossible to enact the changes that might reflect one's idea of fairness. Lots of people might regard a monarchy as conferring unfair advantages on royalty but they have no power to change the system.

Personally I do not envy the RF. I would much rather be an ordinary and relatively anonymous citizen.

can we get back to the original post please !! Can you tell us all what is it ?? that your selfish woman is demanding of you now ??
