Evening folks,..

a few of you may know i had a bit of a mess with some files and made a couple or three knives,....

well, after nearly packing up the knife making as it takes aaaaaages to file bevvels onto an annealled file,...i got hold of some O1 flat stock,..

never used it before but wow,!! its so soft and workable,,,,,

compared to the files,...i,m beggining to think i did,nt anneal the files properly,...

anyway,...i like this stuff so much i cut out two blanks (one i cant show as its a suprise)

the other i tried some filework on with it being this easy to work i thought why not,....

heres what i ended up with after a couple of hours tonite,....

in the background is a scrapof wood i got a off an old bloke who makes walking sticks,.he says its eucolyptus burr, but it just looked plain,

so i gave it a rub and its lovely !, so i reckon this is the handle i'll put on it,....

Very nice done.
Will you fill in the gaps of the filework with two component adhesive when you finish the knife?

Theo

thank you for the kind words,

yes,..i plan on black liners and a black in-fill,...

but i never worked eucolyptus and dont know if it will turn dark with oil,....

anyone know an oil that will bring out the grain with out darkening too much?..

That's very nice, very nice indeed.

thanks Barn Owl,....

i have 40 plus knives and not a single woodlore/classic bushy blade,....so i think i'll commission a sheath and make this my main user,....

(or just polish it and leave it on the shelf to look at!!!)

hahah

That looks fantastic mate, I really need a cheap belt sander so I can crack on and get the grinds done quicker cos this file malarky means I just cant be bothered lol

Wow! Nice craftsmanship Stu!

Gordy

Cheers Mate,....that pattern is really easy tho,...

evenly spaced round file cuts, then little triangular file cuts at each side,....

once you work out the formulaer the pattern seems to pop out and become simplified

Rich ,...

dont spend the money on a sander dude,..!!

this is all hand filed mate,....!!

its the files,....they must be harder,...like i said it nearly put me off altogether,...

get some flat stock and go again mate,.

Top quality Stoozie!!

I'm loving the file work...you inspired me to have a go mate, but alas my blanks are just sitting there all marked out. Onto cutting tomorrow :O)

Bri will love his blade if its half as good as Roxanne!! She's a great bit of kit mate, perfect weight and size, even for my wee hands!! Loving the scales too, and the mosaic pins, and the liners, and the leather cord....i just love it!!

Keep up the good work mateypopsiclebladesmith...
