Im going to upgrade from my £1.99 tiny dimond sharpener to a jap wet stone.

what i would like to know is what grits you would get and use for your bushcrafter and folder.

help please.....

i was thinking of 1200 and 4000 combo and with the fine grit will i need to strop i have never bothered before????????

Not if you sharpen correctly. 1200 will do you well. A true scandi will be better after stropping or running down a ceramic rod though.

Go to B&Q and buy one of those combination diamond stones (four sided in a block) for about £9 as well. They are 200 to 600 grit. Saves a lot of work when grinding out a major dink

Yeah, nothing worse than getting a major dink and not being able to sort it right away. Ruins a good nights sleep does that.

apart from B&Q for the aggressive stone any tips on suppliers for the combi stone (1000/6000), or are they all pretty much the same cost wise?

I dont like the 800/1000/1200 jap whetstones, they dont seem to do alot. I find my oilstone is better before going onto 4000. But they will be fine for you if you don't sharpen much
