Woodland wanted in Kent.

  • Come along to the amazing Summer Moot (21st July - 2nd August), a festival of bushcrafting and camping in a beautiful woodland PLEASE CLICK HERE for more information.
Hi,

I'm looking to buy some woodland in the Kent area. I have registered with all the usual estate agents, auction houses and then the "online" suppliers of woodland.

I have recently been out bid at auction for 12 acres of ancient woodland that would have been perfect.

I would be grateful for any information or any offers for any amount of woodland that may be for sale. I have funds, up to a limit, immediately available.

BTW - the signboards for a well know online seller of woodland that seem to be nailed to nearly every tree locally does not necessarily mean that piece of woodland is for sale :(

Any info, suggestions etc. much appreciated.

Phil.

WOW - what an amazing area you have to enjoy your time in the wilderness. It looks stunning!

Thanks for sharing the images with me :)

BTW - what type of snake is it that has got the eel in it's jaws?

Phil.

Common water snake. It uses the color of the Copper Head to scare you, but you can rest assured there are none in this area and the eyes also give it away...

Thanks....... Im glad you enjoyed them....The area truely is awsome..I couldnt have wished for a better area to live by......

This area was named Kent County by the same family that named Kent County in the UK..I belive they owned the whole area at one time...Capt John Smith Built a Fort right in that very area and it was used strait up through the war of 1812...Linne Lanape Indians used that very area as a home for thousands of years.......I could go on but you'll hate me..LOL

Here is a 1795 map of the county if you are interested..The are in the pictures in on the Sasafrass River.....

Awesome pics ES, damn I'm jealous :lmao:
What's the second camo jacket you're wearing (Not the woodland), is it a WW2 SS pattern?

Regarding woodland, you could scout out some woodland that you fancy, find out who owns it from the land registry and make them an offer, it's possible they may not know what it's worth (doubtful I know) and they may never have considered selling it.

Yes it WWII SS camo..I like it ..Its also reversable to fall camo so I can get away w/ one smock, need be...Its got some HUGE pockets that I fancy as well..

Yes if a Copper head bite you your in Dutch..Its a Pit Viper and the neroe toxin is fatal if not treated ASAP.....

I use a modern map..LOL.... ;)

Thanks guys.

Thanks Snufkin,

This is my next approach - gonna put some signs in local, rural, shop windows -

"Woodland wanted for CASH" - should get some response, although where the cash is gonna come from I'm not sure, perhaps I could empty my son's Darth Vader money box?

Is it copy of the WW2 smock or is it a modern style. I quite fancy the splinter pattern smock and would be interested in what you think of the style.

Not had too much contact with snakes except the placid Grass Snakes that live in my garden - although I did some camping and treking from San Fran down and into Mexico 8 years ago. My girlfriend had to attened to a call of nature one night and I've never heard so many rattle snakes kick off - it was also the quickest I'd ever seen her get back into a sleeping bag :lmao:

If a member of your party were to get a snake bite in the wilderness what is the drill? Do you take anything to combat the poison?

Phil.

Its a war time copy..I made some modification like adding a flashlight/pocket-knife pocket and getting rid of the X lace front for buttons and a strom flap..When I get more fabric Im going to add three large chest pockets Anorak style...I prefer the SS camo..Offers a more variabled use..I have a wartime LW splinter copy smock as well but it never gets used..just looks cool hanging around..Its long as it right nice as a wind breaker.......

Sorry for the high-jack..Ill shut up now.

I was going to ask you about that jacket too. It's a far more effective pattern than the US woodland cammo in that environment I think. Most DPMs seem too dark in bright sunlit forest. That is a really amazing area. Damn I'm jealous...

My FAK isnt set up for treating such a dangerous wound...No meds in my inventory...My plan is to get to the wound as fast as I possibly can. apply a turnaquet...lance it and suck as much of the poison out as I can ...washing it out to because the poison destroys tissue...If its a survival situation all i can do is make the comfortable. If its training call rescue serves fast..

Rattlke snakes scare the **** outta me...None in these parts..No poison snakes at all......Im going to the moutains at the end of the month..If its still warm they will be out geting last their supper before hybernation..
