I was handed this length of wood yesterday as i was told it had a nice colouration to it.
As it happens just under the bark and surrounding the core there is a nice purple colouration. The tree bares dark red, small fruit, has dark red leaves about 3 cm long.....my father thought it was a decorative plum tree...I have not looked into it yet but just thought i'd carve a spoon out of it and see if any colouration stays or oxidises out.
If any of you have uesd woods that bares this trait did it stay or fade?
