Wood gas stoves and fire pit when camping

Hi guys,

I was wondering how wood gas stoves are regarded on campsites. I have found listings of campsites that allow fire-pits but, not one mentions using a wood gas stove to cook on?

Would they be regarded as a barbecue or fire pit or something else?

Thanks guys

Unless you have it on some sort of heat proof surface it's going to leave a fire scar, if in doubt call the site in question and ask them to be sure.

I always sit mine on a flat rock as the intensity of the heat under the footprint is enough to easily start a ground fire in a susceptible area, with the pot trivet removed from the top it makes a perfect one man fire bowl

In the woods if possible.
I generally take a sheet of flat metal to stand the stove on, you can put that on a few logs or stones or something to keep the heat away from the ground.

Don't forget that in some places open fires of all kinds are banned. You always need to check for every location.
