I was asked to make a clamp for someone that would holds a blade at 22º while sharpening. Here's the pics. As you can see it is rubber lined to stop scratches on the blade and to hold the blade tight. The vice won't be included, neither will the old Scout knife :lmao:.
I've tried it with 2mm to 6mm blades and the wingnuts hold the blade good and tight ;)

what guides the stone / file ?

i'm looking for something that i can use to re-profile the edges of LOTS of kitchen knives, would this do it ?

You just need to hold the file/sharpener horizontal. It takes the guess work out of the angling :).
The problem with fitting a sharpener guide is all the sharpeners would need to be the same length(as with a Lansky system - Expensive) and the blades would all need the same depth:(
Because of it's simplicity, it would probably do ALL of your knives
