One question, you went rather slim on the stem. I take it there's a lot more material there we can't see?

@Steve - yup, the hand is very narrow from above but is quite thick in the vertical plane for strength, i'll see about getting a photo later.

You don't... you suffer like the rest of us when we post our poor efforts up and someone skilled comes along and posts theirs

As for willow... it's a lovely wood to carve.
