Calling on the collective knowledge of the forum to help my eldest who, as part of her PE theory lessons in school is looking at various diets.

Anyway the topic comes up about blood sugars and how foods affect the levels.

What I'm after is the name of a UK berry that causes a dip in blood sugar after eating and a slow increase there-after. I recall reading about it in one of my books but I can't for the life of me find it again -

- anyone know the berry I'm talking about - please!

TIA

I'm guessing your lass is wanting to do a bit on glycaemic index.

In which case I *think* rasberries and gooseberries are some of the lowest. Got a couple of books on molecular biology of diabetes at home - I'll have a look this evening if it helps.

I remember the very same reading. Consumption can cause a lack of energy, which resumes after a short period of time.

Three I know of capable of causing hypoglycemia are Elderberry, Raspberry and Blackberry.
