or can anyone confirm i is the same or very similar to amsteel blue.

apart from costing a fortune as it has marine and sailing on the website i cant tell the difference.

it would be easier to get for me as i sail and have to make regular orders from this supplier anyway.

Yeah, I've used 2mm D12 with great success. I get mine from http://www.jimmygreen.co.uk/ - they also do it on mini rolls which works out much cheaper than by the metre

Are whoopie slings relativity easy to make? Just trying to figure out weather to order some made from the US or buy some D12 myself and have a go making some.

Abit of google fu and I found this pdf on how to tie a whoppie sling. I prefer pictures to watching a video when it comes to tying knots and things.

Marlow D12 is great for whoopie slings-its made from the same stuff as amsteel blue (dyneema sk75) but is not quite as strong as amsteel blue for its width.
If you can get marlow then you should be able to get english braids(english braids own marlow). They do a "dynamic" line which is pre-stretched sk75-its better than marlow d12.

Going to order 2 wild country 30cm x 10mm dyneema sling to go through the ends of the hammock then use a karabiner to coonect to the whoopie sling and act as a drip line.

The whoopie sling will sit in the channel happily on its own and the tail of the whoopie sling will act as a drip line. I haven't had any water make it accross the tail yet although i've not had a prolonged deluge yet with the whoopies.

Well my whoopie slings hold ok but I think I might have made them too long. How long does everybody else have them?

6-8 ft is about right for most. I'm using 5.5m of cord for mine at the moment, with 8" bury.

Hi there
I've seen the thread on the US sites about the Amsteel slings, what's to stop you using Paracord? It break at 250kgs which is well over double my weight. Anyone used it? I've done this type of splicing for years to make carp fishing rigs so I doubt it would be hard to do.
Any thoughts?
