What woodsy projects you doing this weekend?

  • Come along to the amazing Summer Moot (21st July - 2nd August), a festival of bushcrafting and camping in a beautiful woodland PLEASE CLICK HERE for more information.
I am hoping to snare some bison on the Mendips, using a snare I am making from a large rock, which I am slowly hollowing out. Then I am going to construct a teepee from the bison skin, and make a set-top box from its thigh bones. I should be self-sufficient by about 2015. Which means I will only miss the first 15 minutes of the X-Factor.

replacing the kitchen tap that mrs m broke this morning. Not at all woodsy, nor fun. I hate plumbing with a passion, I'm too big and hate confined spaces. And all the batteries in the house are flat, so I've been working without light. Had to stop while I charged up some batts, bad light has stopped the swearing for a bit.

EDIT: and maggot has more likelyhood of catching bison on the mendips than I have to finishing this job!!!

Put new hanging loop on my billy can lid, Made a few minor mods to my new mountain pack, cut new fork for pot hanger, made new spool for chute rope, sitting down next to read Paradise below zero.

Quiet day really.

I bought this mess kit the other day ~ no idea how old (either new or unissued)

And I thought I'd better make a start on seasoning* the pan part ;)

* I know that they're intended to be spotlessly clean ~ but seeing as its predominent use will be as a frying pan, I'm taking an early option for non/less-stick efficiency :p .

I've also got a bit of leather working on the go ~ including the start of plans for a carrier for this mess kit and also for a Gillwell set  .
