Buzzards were out enjoying the cooler air. They haven't really been airborn during the heat wave, hunting mostly from fence posts not far from shady oak trees.

A lesser black backed gull.

Seaside bird; saw this one at the end of my street, 50 miles inland. They are getting more common inland

Not today, but Friday morning.
I went scuba diving in Half Moon Bay, near Al Khobar.
It's a shallow dive site, 7m if you're lucky.
Spent about an hour pottering around, saw some seahorses, a species of fish we knew was in there, but had never seen before, and a sea snake.
The highlight, however was at the end of the dive...
We surfaced, and while we were bobbing about on the surface checking everyone was OK, we noticed a pod of dolphins near us.
There were about 6 or 7 of them, and they got very close to us, maybe 2-3m.
We stayed there, watching while they played for about half an hour, then they swam off.
It was magical.

I’m very lucky working as a squirrel ranger, seeing reds often, and of course removing greys. It’s not uncommon to see tawnys in the yews, badgers at night on the camera and more recently… I’ve been lucky to work with englands first pine marten in decades…

I just wandered up into the woods I have a semi permanent site - and found one of the local young foxes is a bushcrafter! As I wandered around the back of my usual pitch, I heard a crackle of vegetation and as I looked toward the sound I spotted the cub :) He looked at me - I looked at him, then he bounded away ... in no particular rush! I moved to where I thought I might look down a path, onto the path that the noise of his progress told me he was taking, and there he was - strolling along. I made high pitched "mewing" noises and he stopped and stared back at me ... until he got bored and trotted off again into beep bush.
I have seen the foxes - old and young - quite a bit recently (five views in one day on one day last week) and lots of poo on the road - all within 1/2 mile of my house :)

The foxes around me give me a lot of entertainment. I’ve had a family at the end of my garden for a at least five years and the Vixen is very identifiable. Even if I can’t see them I can hear the family “discussions”. Buried a couple of youngsters over the years. A certain charity also releases their “rescues” from London nearby, quite a few seem to die pretty quickly though. I quite like foxes, I have watched many attracted to the sound of gunfire, they know they’ll be easy prey to nab. Game birds also react differently to them than they do to gundogs, much more flight response.

Common octopus, I shall see if I can track it for the next few days. Lots of shell spoil and occasional crunching are the clues. ;)
