What kind of cloth are that????

I just found that picture on the net and wonder what kind of cloth are those?
We have here snow-machine cloth, which give us a longer time of survival if we break through the lake ice. These cloths are heavy and one gets very hot and sweaty in them. That is ok if one is only standing on the scooter and driving.

What kind of cloth are those, it looks like that he is on a trek with a toboggan and is going through a river in wintertime. I would love to know what kind of cloth are those?

Hi Abbe, That looks like a planned walk through the water in which case the mad man in the photo may have put an immersion suit over the top of his normal expedition clothes.

I have not found any material that allows you to work hard without sweating and still keeps you dry in/on/under water...

Anyway, that's just my best guess and a short time searching google - Others may have a MUCH better idea than I.

I agree, it looks like an immersion / sea survival suit to me as well. I thought it was possible to paddle this type of expedition sledge....saw some pictures of Ran Fiennes doing so a while back.

Try these guys www.cosalt.co.uk for immersion suits. Lots of specs to look at. Also, look up dry suits on the web.

I I thought it was possible to paddle this type of expedition sledge

one programme I saw showed a couple of blokes lashing two sledges togeather but only taking one lot of kit and one man at a time across the water due to weight.
