Don’t knock Vibranium alloys til you’ve tried themI'm glad this thread is continuing, as I'm now looking to get a non-locking, sub 3inch folding knife that I can carry legally whilst out in public, for when I'm doing bushcraft / foraging, etc. I have fixed blades for when I'm sat at a camp spot, however as the UK legislation is strict, I want to make sure I can confidently defend my position to have / be using a knife in public - e.g. whittling on a beach, foraging for food.
Obviously knives are very much personal preference, however is there a short-list of established / front-runners that I should consider? Budget is not the most important factor, although I'd rather not go into big money if I can help it. I know that you get what you pay for, however don't think I need an ultra-boutique custom design with vibranium-infused steel, just a good design that works with a decent steel that holds the edge and will work for a variety of tasks.
I really can't get on with SAK's or any multi-tool really for knife-work (I've got a Gerber suspension that doesn't get much use for this reason), so it's a single blade design I think. I like the single-hand opening option - I used to have a cheap locking knife with a nodule on the side for pushing with your thumb, which was very handy). I'm right handed, so figure most knives will be feasible. A belt clip sounds like a good plan, although a hole for a lanyard could work well too - I've not used one for so long that I'm not sure how I'll actually carry it when I'm out. Not sure if there is anything else I need to consider - is there anything I've missed?
All suggestions gratefully received
Here’s a Heinies list of UK legal EDC sub 3” non lockers. 589 knives and I’d still pick a UKPK Salt in Magnacut.
