A complete :***: :***: :***: :***: knocked me off my motorbike today... My legs are coming up a nice shade of purple, my shoulder is killing me and my bike is a mess.

The muppet was stuck in a traffic jam and decided to swerve out across the road to do a U turn as I was filtering past... nice of him to use his mirrors!

And on top of it, he had the nerve to try and blame me! :banghead: if the drivers side door on his car wasn't caved in and he was able to get out immediately I dread to think what I would have done to him.

When are people going to realise they're not the only vehicle on the road?!?

I'm totally :***: now until the end of the month

  Mate, I feel for you. My bikes going back on the road next week and I'm going to have to start avoiding oblivious drivers again! I'm glad that you're just bruised up though, these things can always be so much worse. It’s good that you're going to be ok.

What bike was it? There are a few riders on the forum

It's dangerous out there ... last year on the M6 I saw someone throw a beer can out of their car window ... out the driver's window!

Hope you get better real soon!

Cheers Adi007... hurts like hell but I'm lucky I seem to bounce off things quite well.

Tony, It was/is only a little Suzuki Bandit 600... poor little thing, was a good commuter, not so good as a car door ornament though

Cheers TheViking

Hope you will be ok Joe and it doesn't feel too bad in the morning, It could have been worse at least you could walk away but that's not much consolation.

There is so much bad driving here in Bedford I would need a whole new forum no matter a new thread to tell you about it. It amazes me almost daily.

tomtom I think i'll leave you as the minigolf crown holder...

as for the laying up bit... I can't afford to... work on monday. I do get to burn some karma off through the insurance company though

also, as a light hearted side note... I have a mobile phone shaped bruise on my left leg and a nice fractal pattern on my phone screen due to it cracking. it's very pretty, I wish I could see what i'm doing on it though. I keep calling the wrong people

Don't forget to sue the B****D. It takes a while and the money ain't exactly great but it helps you feel better. It's also a way to get back the costs the insurance won't cover - excess, ruined riding gear etc. It's a sad fact that material stuff like that is worth more than skin and bruises, but you should be able to find a specialist who'll do it for no win no fee, and they claim their costs from the other side, not you.

Try and get a recommendation on the solicitor though, someone who specialises in RTA and knows bikes too. There are some useless outfits out there. Don't automatically accept the firm your insurance company may have a bulk deal with unless they convince you they're experienced with bike claims.

Also, get a real thorough medical organised straight away, get a mate or your better half to photo the bruises now before they go down, an independednt doc will find this sort of eveidence useful. Record all your treatment - type and date and what for, even down to how many aspirins your chewing for how long. If you were treated in hospital, don't expect them to talk to your GP, go direct and get referred to Physio if you need it, yada yada.

Get receipts for all your public transport costs, extra time needed for journeys, etc

I was wiped out a couple of years ago so these tips come from direct experience. Good luck and lots of sympathy.

Cheers Alick... I had a similar bike accident about 8 years ago and the guy wan't insured. Fortunately I had legal protection with my policy and they were top. I only insure my bikes with motorbike insurers so they tend to know what they're on about.

Here are the pics from the accident.

That looked nasty. Did you have good protective gear on at the time?
So far I've been lucky and not had a major off with a car. I got clipped by a lorry and it didn't even stop

The thing about nearly all protective gear is that it's designed to withstand sliding onn tarmac, not hitting something. You can get back protectors and a few other things but I just wear a helmet, gloves and some sturdy walking boots. Fortunately I seem to be able to withstand bumps well :)

I hope you've been to see a doctor. Vehicular accidents have a tendency to cause internal damage you might not be aware of yet.
