Unfortunately, in the time it took me to switch on my laptop and connect to the web the
segment on the Weald museum has now finished, and they're on to lawnmower racing,
but I expect iPlayer or other 'listen again' equivalents will probably make it possible to
see it again.

Will see what I can find.

OK this page contains the programme details - http://www.bbc.co.uk/sn/tvradio/programmes/countryfile/

which includes a link for the Weald and Downland Open Air museum which is
http://www.wealddown.co.uk/

The programme showed the fabulous modern barn that Red posted some photos of
earlier in this thread - actually that thread is a pretty good advert for the W&DOA
museum!
The Weald and Downland Museum (lots & lots of piccs)

Also, a one off course in bronze age technology and food preparation is mentioned here
http://www.bushcraftuk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=22873

As the programme is still broadcasting it's not yet possible to access a link for the
iPlayer download (which lets you 'download' within a week of broadcast a copy of the
programme that you can keep for a month, and it's then automatically deleted) but I
suspect that this is where it will appear:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/search/?q=countryfile

I suppose I should point out that the Weald segment is only about 10 minutes long and
it's probably not really worth going to all this palaver to download the iPlayer just to watch
it (although it gives a very good atmospheric feel of a yeoman's building)... but this info
might be useful for future programme capturing purposes :D

Although I downloaded the iPlayer I've managed to use it only once and have never been
able to access anything since - it required me to fiddle about with a new version of
Windows Media (gaaah!) which appears to conflict with my other media players.

Anyway, technical details can be found from the BBC's site via this search for iPlayer:
http://search.bbc.co.uk/cgi-bin/search/results.pl?scope=all&tab=all&recipe=all&q=iplayer&x=30&y=16

and this is the thread that outlines the effort involved in downloading it
http://www.bushcraftuk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=25518

(wherever possible I use the VLC media player from http://www.videolan.org/vlc/ - it really
is fantastic).

So... bit of a multi-themed post from me there

Nice links as always Jodie.

I took the kids here last May and a great day was had by all.

If you are planning a visit I would recommend checking their website for any special event days as they will often have reenactment groups there.

When we went we saw Roman and Tudor artwork being done, we had a go at rag rugging, made candles and watched plough horses being setup for work.

Very enjoyable.

P.S. For what it's worth I think the iplayer is great. I can't down load any of the programmes for some reason but I can watch streamed shows and have enjoyed watching the Ben Foggle show called extreme dreams which I originally missed. I'd love a crack at being on one of those shows.

Once again nice links Jodie and well worth a visit!

I managed to catch this prog just as it was starting on the museum part. It was interesting enough, but would have been nicer to have been shown more, and given a bit more background but that's time limited TV for you.

I missed the 'Grand Designs' episode regarding the house in the woods, and was glad it was included, it was in fact the main reason for watching in the first place.
