I may be alright. I'd prefer something lighter to the tarp from the market but it's looking like bike camping this summer anyway

Might be worth considering a poncho for a bike trip.
I was working on a US army poncho this week.
I made up the lines and Prusik Knots and was pretty impressed with it as both a poncho and a shelter.
It's about 1/2 the size of the british army issue basha when packed and still gives plenty of cover when set up.
I was thinking about using it as a light weight summer shelter along with a bivi bag for a little trip im planning.

Blimey... looks like you will need to take off the chain and sleep with it in your hand... I wouldn't go touring with bikes worth that much!
