Wanigan

[Humpback]

Those of you who canoe camp and use a wanigan what do you use. I've tried a barrel, a plastic crate from Staples and a Wickes waterproof tool box but have not decided on which one I prefer.
So what do you use? I've seen some wooden ones but am afraid I can't do woodwork for my life.
Also what size is your perfect size?

This site may provide some ideas.

If you ask there are probably a few folks on here who will make you one to whatever specification you settle on, additionally if you use the 'search' facility you will find a few threads about wannigans, sizing etc.

If you want , ill build you a wooden wannigan if you let me know what sort of spec you want and budget im pretty sure together we can come up with something that fits the bill
ive made a couple for my self so far , needs change, so i make a new one to fit the bill.

I can vouch for the quality - I have a nice one from Dr Jones' Wannigan manufactury and it is great!

Hi , Saw that site on Wannigan and been playing around with the idea in my head, like making a skeleton frame from 1" by 1" then upping the ply to 6mm, without using 12" by 1" wood. Just my idea.

The Wickes toolboxes are excellent although not waterproof in the event of a capsize
