The risks of being eaten by a bear or a mountain lion are very low indeed. If you keep your food away from where you're sleeping and you make a bit of noise when you're moving about, they'll avoid you.

For reference, there were 4 deaths from bear attacks in Canada in 2022. On average in the UK, there are 5 deaths per year by cows.

Atleast one contestant on Alone US has fired an arrow at a bear and missed.

Largest animal killed was a 900lb moose with bow & arrow. Another person killed a musk ox with just a knife.
