There's a film I saw ages ago that I have been trying to remember but my memories are too vague to search for it.
From what I recall, a family move out of the city & buy a ramshackle house in the wilderness, possibly Alaska. I think it was by a lake. They have all sorts of problems etc. until they follow the advice of the locals & start burying food in barrels to stop bears eating it, I think.
It was a feel good movie, not a horror film. It may or may not have starred Tom Hanks. Sorry I can't be more specific.
