Torch filters?

I do alot of hill walking in the Dales and lake district and the weather is pretty unpredictable and usually crap. I use a Fenix LED torches but find they don't help much in misty/foggy conditions.

I have read on the internet in several forums that if a filter is added to the torch light it will improve penetration of the light and thus visability

Which is the best torch filter to use in foggy/misty conditions?

I have been looking through afew other forums and there seems to be three strong but conflicting view points:-

Blue filter is best

Amber filter is best

Non- use incandesant bulb

Any body on the forum able to help?

I think amber is supposed to cut through the mist better, your fenix probably has a slight blue bias anyway, being an LED, so I would try an amber filter.

Try rubber banding a orange sweety wrapper (quality street) over the head of the torch to try it before you waste any money though.
