TOP TIPS AND TRICKS.

Has anyone got any top tips or tricks? Something ingenious or useful but most of all simple. This is my peg less washing line made by doubling a line and twisting it. I put my dirty washing out and leave it for the rain to sort out. There is no shortage of rain here in Ireland.

Its funny you should say that ............. Ive just edited what I originally wrote. That is exactly what I do.

I've come to the opposite conclusion and use 2 pegs tied at either end of a short piece of string. Handy for hanging shoes over my stove amongst other things.

Tumble dryer fluff is great tinder. Catches a spark right away, and is a free byproduct of drying clothes at home. I just keep it in a plastic bag and take a pinch of it out with me.

I keep some curved needle nose pliers with my cook kit(s) for lifting lids etc and especially lifting the cup support off an alcohol burner.

Note - I only collect when I’m drying cotton.

Wool and synthetic don’t work well. You can’t beat the harvest from washing a new towel!

Hello all, I just got a 2nd hand kelly kettle - it was fine as pictured - but I think it got bumped in transit & the stove base is now wedged inside the kettle, on a slight angle. Or possibly it has got cold, or warm, and the metals have expanded. It's an aluminium one. Anyone experienced this...

It holds the bale handle clear of the kettle when you want to pour and right against the kettle when you want to pack it.

Heres a simple and useful one . this is a fire pan stand I made out of rebar grill, the metal grill stuff they pour concrete over. With this one I welded some extra cross bits on to hold more pans but you can just cut with a hacksaw and bend the metal into a table shape. Takes about ten minutes. Job done x

I have some shoe size pebbles on the burner which are ideal for putting inside wet shoes or socks to quickly dry them out.

I found them on the beach with lots of others. I dont think they are old tools. I never even thought about that till now but one of them actually looks like an axe xxxx

Probably far, far cheaper than the bag of Kapok I bought from some bushcraft site! I’ll mark that down in my “onboard” filing system.

For a few years I carried some of those wooden firelighters soaked in white spirit inside a boiled sweet tin.
