Enough weight to be a bother hiding it. At today's prices it's over 130 kgs.
Right enough the same value of gold would only weigh as much as two bags of sugar.

I am hopeless at maths. Anyone want to have a go at what 200k silver and the same in gold would have yielded in 2025? I would be very interested. DD xxxx
Gold is up 53% over the past 12 months.
Silver is up 92% over the past 12 months.

£200,000 worth of gold multiplied by 1.53 = £306,000.
£200,000 worth of silver multiplied by 1.92 = £384,000.

No gold is up 53% so that is roughly half as much again on top of what it was a year ago.
But silver is up 92% so that has almost doubled from what it was a year ago.

A single oz of silver is now worth more than an entire barrel of oil.
Just think about that and let it sink in for a moment.
As you like to say "interesting times" xxx

Brilliant. I am rich, RICH I TELL YOU! :) xxx
Health, friends and family are real wealth.
Money is just tool. A very useful tool granted but money is not real wealth in my opinion.

Anyway that's enough of my rubbish attempt at amateur philosophy. :) Let's get this thread back to the subject of Premium Bonds.

2025 review of max holdings of four people.

£1900 for me in total this year. More if you take into consideration I bought silver/gold with the "winnings"

So from the video
A) 1500
B) 3650
C) 3100
D) 2900
Martin K9 ) 1900

Total £ 13100 -- assume all had max holdings of £50k per person

Mean of £2620 per person .
Return of 5.24% per 50k

5.24% is not even keeping up with inflation.*

* By inflation I mean real inflation of the actual real world prices which we see with our own eyes every time we go out shopping or pay a bill. Personally I find that real world price inflation is usually somewhere around double what the manipulated official government figures tells us it is.

I'm not rich in money anyway and I'm working towards having done with it. xxx

There is nothing wrong with money per-say. Money is just a medium of exchange which in and of itself is neither good nor evil. It is the person who possesses the money who gets to choose how it will be spent and it is their choices and their actions which are good, evil, neutral or whatever.

Having money and being rich is not a bad thing though. In fact it is a good thing provided you are a good person with it. You would be very limited in your ability to help either yourself or other people around you if you're skint and have no money available to use as a tool to make things happen.

I agree absolutely. money is an incredible tool for positive change. The reason I am trying to get used to the idea of not using it is because I won't have a choice if I refuse to engage in a digital alternative. just to keep with the premium bonds thread. I think the returns are so so but I would hedge my bets and get some. I did have some spare cash this year but spent it on a flea circus. I might get some next year xxxxxx
