Well, this is my latest creation. Kind of bushy-meets-tactical. 6mm O1 toolsteel, black and orange paper micarta scales, orange liners, mosaic pins and a bit of file-work on the spine.

It just needs a good polish and a sheath making.
Thanks for looking.

6mm thick goodjob

Odd blade shape goodjob

Purists be damned to hell and back in a hand basket, nice looking knife (ok maybe the hump is a bid weird ;) ) but apart from that, well done

I like that mate! bit too thick for me though. My current knife is 4mm and I am finding that too thick.

I really like that!
Nice blade shape, thumb ramp to make pushing up on cuts a little easier, nice handle material too mate!
Not too sure about the thickness of the blade though, what's the balance like?

6mm wasn't my choice, but as i got the steel for nothing i thought i'd go ahead and see how they turned out. I'm very surprised at how well this knife performs, i've done some slicing and a bit of whittling and i find it just as good as my thinner knives for most tasks so far. The other 6mm knife i'm making has a full convex grind so i will soon find out how they compare at performing various tasks.

The balance turned out great, right over the forefinger. The tang was drilled out to lighten it up a good bit.

Here it is before the handle was fitted.

The thumb-ramp looks too far forward, but it is positioned where my thumb naturally falls upon the spine.

Mrs Stevesteve thinks it looks great: the micarta, the filework the whole thing. It really struch a chord with her.

I like the look of the thumb ramp. My most recent knife has a rise in the buffalo horn bolster which was commented on... but it just fits my hand. If you made it for yourself and you like it then it's perfect. 6mm is pretty beefy but hey, it's not going to break!

Cheers,
Steve
