Beautiful Martin, just beautiful.

As a tribute to you and just to show that us few Instructor Woodlore owners do use our knives for something too.

Interestingly, I've been offered nearly £2k for that knife. But some things are worth more than a lump of money. Maybe that's what people miss when they only see the price.

If you own the knife and want to sell it, then it's up to you what you want to part with it. If you don't own one and really want the knife, then it's up to you what you pay to get it. It's no one elses business. People want different things. Some like cars, some like nicely shaped hedges, some like bespoke suits and spend a fortune on antiques that most would see as old and useless. Others see beauty in trees and flowers while others see a day out. Some pay to go to lavish hotels abroad while others like to sit in the wood for free. Some like both.

It's a paper weight !

..yeah.

haha! that is the exact picture I had in my mind, love it! ;)

I dont think the knives are poncy and i would pay retail for one, i just cant justify the premium for not taking my place in the queue. I will have one one day although it will probably be a well used variety.

Isnt there a way of putting up a poll on here, we could vote on who would and who wouldnt. I wonder what the results would be?

MartinK9 : Great knives btw ;)

We've already done that a few times over the years. It doesn't prove anything more than most people would like one, whether to keep as new or to use.

Guilty as charged... so long as it's the JP 25th anniversary version :D

I'm very happy with it but I'd happily buy another simply because I love the look of them

I'd rather have an unbranded knife by the same maker at a fraction of the price.

Unbranded by AW or RM? I'd rather have an unbranded Aston Martin at the fraction of the price too. Is it down to the just the price, or just the branding. For me, with Aston Martin, it's the price.

AW without RM, they're still expensive no doubt.

Not so much as he sells direct. With the RM knife he sells to RM and RM has to put a mark up on it to sell it to us. RM doesn't make too much from this knife considering he has to commission them in the first place, that is why they are more expensive. A lot of people don't think of that when they see the price, but it is a huge factor. As in most things, it's always less expensive to go wholesale than retail.

That's not my only reason though. Buy direct and you're in with a chance of getting something unique. One of a kind.... Was also referring more to the queue skipping "second hand" price rather than the RM direct one.

As it stands I can't afford either and have better things to spend my moolah on, mostly child care.
