I have a WilkiSword Mears knife which is a cracking tool and very practical to use.I like it alot.If I had the funds to spare I'm sure I'd buy a Woodlore and use it.I was very tempted when MartinK9 thinned out his collection a while back but didn't have the cash available.
We spend our whole lives making buying decisions and the Woodlore vs other knife debate is much the same. This sort of thread seems to go nowhere really. If you want one and you can afford it then buy one: if that is not the case then save up or buy something else .Simples.

it's much more gangster than the boring old woodlore and does way more! it even has a wierd hook type thing on the back that serves no real purpose.. how's that for extravegant endulgence?!

The hook is to hold a parcel tied with string. Or to make a rug.

That looks like a wax coating to me. :)

Indeed. I used Ren Wax on all of them:

Selling off 12 of the above allowed me to keep numbers 13 and 14 for the total cost of nowt and a £5.

Isnt there a way of putting up a poll on here, we could vote on who would and who wouldnt. I wonder what the results would be?

MartinK9 : Great knives btw ;)

Never a truer word spoken than that. The humble Swiss army knife is the most useful thing in the history of the universe.

Still more expensive than Mora, and you can use a Mora to make the other bits out of wood ;)

try pruning a moustache with a mora, possible but not practical. For the price you get the most practical and functionality of any other knife and can still play bushcraft with it easily.

BUT.. obviously your soul will get tainted and sold off to the devil for much more than it originally cost god..

Beautiful Martin, just beautiful.

As a tribute to you and just to show that us few Instructor Woodlore owners do use our knives for something too.

Interestingly, I've been offered nearly £2k for that knife. But some things are worth more than a lump of money. Maybe that's what people miss when they only see the price.

If you own the knife and want to sell it, then it's up to you what you want to part with it. If you don't own one and really want the knife, then it's up to you what you pay to get it. It's no one elses business. People want different things. Some like cars, some like nicely shaped hedges, some like bespoke suits and spend a fortune on antiques that most would see as old and useless. Others see beauty in trees and flowers while others see a day out. Some pay to go to lavish hotels abroad while others like to sit in the wood for free. Some like both.
