Sweet Cicely

Been smelling this in the woods.

What does it go with?

I've never used it myself but saw PatrickM using it with brown trout on landward the other night.

Any other ideas?

Anything aniseedy goes well with fish.

Stuff a load in a bottle of vodka, sweeten to taste. Leave for a month or so.
Quaff with gusto.

It's a nice munchy If you grind some of the seeds down they go well with fruit bannock

I don't think any other umbelifers smell like it.

Have you got somewhere to grow one ?
I find if I take something I'm pretty sure of home, or it's seeds/bulbils and grow it on in the garden, then I see it day in, day out, right through the year. Makes it easy to spot when I'm out
I've got seeds to grow on for next year for sweet Cicely, if they all come I'm in trouble :yikes:

Just ain't a flora person.

Fauna yes, but flora just doesn't stick in my mind, smells or not.

never thought of that, Russ could play at taking my privet down with his beasties.

Privet makes good basketry material, and fishtraps
