Swedish snow smock, modification advice needed

I have just got myself a swedish snow smock, the over heaed type, which I intend to modify. The smock itself fits well but the arms are ridiculously short. I'm thinking of trying to get hold of the button up type, which look like they have longer sleeves with a better cuff, unstitch the sleeves and put them on the overhead smock. It's a plan that has all the hallmarks of an expensive desaster so I thought I would get some advice before proceding. Any suggestions welcome. Cheers

As a suggestion, why not sell the smock you have, buy a button up type and you can use it as a smock by just not undoing the buttons?

It will save any sewing at all. ;)

How about adding some ribbed cuffs to the existing jacket if they'd give you the necessary extra length ?.There's a supplier in London who I remember used to sell replacements for the MA1 flight jackets.

I haven't seen those for years!

The one I had was excellent, VERY windproof and kept off a lot of water too.

My son "borrowed" mine about six years ago...

I doubt they do them in Bushcrafter's ***cough*** comfort fit sizing though.

Liam
They are both size 5 it measures 26" from pit to pit and 34" from the top of the shoulder to the bottom hem hope this helps i am a 44" chest and i can still were a fleece under it. with it haveing the draw cord waist it would also fit a 38" chest to;)
