Thinking about this weekend, I thought a little walk and a train trip may be fun, from Ipswich Station at about 2pm ish.... to Woodbridge Station, then walk to Rendelsham stay overnight there, then walk to Tunstall and over night it there, then return via the rail route again, Train Is about £6 return if I am right..
The thing is only with basic Kit, as in the list
2 Wool Blankets
Orange Survival Bag.
Tarp.
Knife
Saw may be a Small Axe
Flint and Steel in Tinder Pouch
Water Bottles
Small Billy.
Cup.
Spoon
food
UCO Lantern.
Paracord
If I cannot have an open fire, I be taking my Multi Fuel stove or Hexi
Hygiene Bag
First aid Kit
Map and Compass
Drinks and Food - not sure which to go for yet, boil in bag or Bannock and Biltong/Dewors, Cereal Bars, few chocy bars, cheese.
Charged Camera to take photos
May change the kit slightly, but will stick very close to the above list.
Anyone fancy the Idea ?

Start with a cage containing five monkeys.
Inside the cage, hang a banana on a string and place a set of stairs under it. Before long, a monkey will go to the stairs and start to climb towards the banana. As soon as he touches the stairs, spray all of the other monkeys with cold water.
After a while, another monkey makes an attempt with the same result - all the other monkeys are sprayed with cold water. Pretty soon, when another monkey tries to climb the stairs, the other monkeys will try to prevent it.
Now, put away the cold water. Remove one monkey from the cage and replace it with a new one. The new monkey sees the banana and wants to climb the stairs. To his surprise and horror, all of the other monkeys attack him.
After another attempt and attack, he knows that if he tries to climb the stairs, he will be assaulted.
Next, remove another of the original five monkeys and replace it with a new one. The newcomer goes to the stairs and is attacked. The previous newcomer takes part in the punishment with enthusiasm! Likewise, replace a third original monkey with a new one, then a fourth, then the fifth. Every time the newest monkey takes to the stairs, he is attacked.
Most of the monkeys that are beating him have no idea why they were not permitted to climb the stairs or why they are participating in the beating of the newest monkey.
After replacing all the original monkeys, none of the remaining monkeys have ever been sprayed with cold water. Nevertheless, no monkey ever again approaches the stairs to try for the banana.

wish i could make it, sounds grate. i will try not to forget the chrono again. bought some OS explorer maps 196,210,211 1:25 000 scale. would these cover the area we hope to use? if not let me know coz buy 2 and get a third free at the mo. later lads
I Running out of time now, Had the Whole week off, and guess what the time has flown by, I still got to go see mum and dad, to help dad out....
Got to go do some food shopping.......then got to get to the Goodie supply guy.... got a pile of washing as big as the igger, room needs a good clean and hover, the list seems to go on.....
TWAM has asked if I will do another day today......
so its now looking like I may not be out...
If you could bring the Chrono Next weekend please Carl, I was going to strip and rebuild the HW this week as well, just to make sure it ok.....

Okay... I believe the body found was a missing Polish national.
I know this because the police were in the Little River Ouse looking for the man and his dog when Fruit Loop and I were out there camping! We even helped out with the search! Thing is, there was no body in the water when we were paddling down there in the canoe (and we went all the way to the A11) and someone walked by our camp at around 4AM (not saying it's related, but sure was suspicious given that there was a path in the forest in front of our camp, and the person chose to walk through the brush behind our camp... about a half a mile to a mile down-stream of where the body was found.
I'm wondering if it's worth contacting the police about the guy walking behind our camp... what do you guys think?
Fruit Loop and I were wide awake when we heard the footsteps (and they were absolutely human footsteps, not deer or any 4-legged creature). I said "Is that you, Andy?" and the footsteps immediately stopped. Fruit Loop replied that it wasn't him, and we went quiet. After about 30 seconds, the footsteps continued. I unzipped my hammock's mozzie net and the footsteps stopped again. I sat there with my head poked out and the footsteps resumed after about 30-40 seconds... and continued on away from us headed downstream.
They didn't enter our camp itself (they were behind my tarp, between where we were camped and the dyke (which was about 5 meters in from the river itself). There was a pretty clear track of bent grass when we checked it out at dawn (definitely not a deer track).
I don't think it's normal for people to be walking through the brush (rather than on the defined forest paths) at 4-o'clock in the morning, do you?
Okay... I called the police and reported the person walking by our camp in the woods, gave them the location. It's probably not related at all, but I figure it's worth passing along the information.
Fact is people don't go walking through the bush when there's a path just a few meters away headed in the same direction... especially not at 4AM!
If it turns out that there's a murderer walking around Thetford forest, then I think Fruit Loop and I should consider ourselves lucky that they chose to walk on by rather than attack us (though it must be said I had my ESEE knife suspended above me inside my hammock, and my axe by the side of my hammock on top of my Bergen... as it was a wild camp and you just never know).
If it turns out to be unrellated, then the mystery continues: what would anyone be doing walking out there at 4AM?

As far as the Missing persons goes, SuLSaR assisted NoRLSaR in that search, you never know it may well of been one of them, that came close and did not want to disturb you, but that would surprise me, they were more likely to come over and ask questions to see if you heard any thing.... if I had been out that night I would of given you a prod for a cuppa...
Its quite surprising how often people go missing, and how many times SuLSaR and Rover Rescue get put on stand by and go out all hours of day and night....

Had it been any search party, they'd have responded when we called out... rather than stopping dead and silent.
More over, since we were wild camping, I'd have imagined they would have come over if nothing else but to see if one of us was the person they were looking for.
Strikes me as very suspicious anyway, so worth reporting.
