In some ways I do agree with you Carl... about High power bows, looks like I got to look for an other one less the 30lb.. :(

HI, Stu. i think it's a good move to keep the power to a maxinum of 30lb as its only for a bit of fun anyway and that way i will not have to walk to far to find my arrows. later carl

So you get to buy another bow before even using your new one, Happy Days

I'll be using my one at the Club on the 29th for a shoot, I got my NFAS through the other day, just need the key for the gate at the club then can go when I want :)...

May look for a lighter bow for the kids any way....

Well that does me in on the archery, I dont think I own a bow that is under 45lb....... May have to ask my six year old if I can borrow his bow....

lol, I ve got the same problem......., we put a limit on it to stop reckles use of well over powered bows, as time goes on and things settle in we can always make a desion on the upper limit..

It to easy for anyone to go and buy a high powered bow and use it especialy with cros bows and compounds... OK very unlikely to happen with recurves and longbows/flatbows, as you have to have the strengh..

We have had no problems with the Airguns, and its worked quite well, the regulars just have the od pop at some targets, and no one so far has shall we say done anything stupid, and has respected the rules, its working quite well.

Very understandable when it comes to people who are new to archery, like I said before everyone goes to high in poundage saying I can work up to it, most never do and it is best to go lower and use that until yoh can use it all day then go up. I shoot a 54lb AFB all day long, but have a few 75lb and one 120lb longbow which I can and do shoot but not all day long eek.
Its good to have a back stop but i find the netting to be a great extra barrier to stop miss hits.

Hi, not sure what you mean in your question, maybe its the auto correct? But if it is how far a can I put an arrow with the 120lb then around 375 yards give or take. It has been a while since I shot it but boy it is fun. Out of all the bows it is the hardest to shoot , the longbow that is. But if you put your mind to it and body really it is a raw shooting bow, thing is other bow types shoot harder at less poundage but that is the design of the bows really. Thanks for your time.

I must admit I would liek a long bow, but funds dont allow, one day may be.. lol..

Saying that I am quite impressed with teh feel of the Bucktrail Black hawk I have it feels quite nice in my hands, all for £80 ish I am happy, so much... but do like teh all wood look so it may well be time to try to make one......

well I could not resist any more... the garden has become an archery range.... lol.. got home from work and took the bow outside and shot about 50 arrows... I have to say I do like the Blackhawk, feels nice in my hands not only holding, it but shooting it to.

The arrows seem to fly well out of it, apart from when I get the nocking wrong... slightly up or down... I will have to get a couple of nocking rings on it, apart from that was very happy how it went, the arrows were quite quick out of it, even at not quite full draw...

Its not heavy in the hands and feels quite light,

I brought a cheap back quiver to get me going but will make one when I decide what sort I would like :)

The shooting glove I brought was also the Blacktrail one, in a large size it fits nice and snug and feels comfortable only time will tell how well it handles use..

That is the problem , knowing what you can comfortably draw, I knew that a 30lb was way toooo light for me, and I tried a 40lb and still found that easy, so took a punt on 45lb as i want something I can nicely use at the club, now I've shot the 45lb think I did right, only time will tell, but saying that I do aim to get loads of practice in before my first shoot on the 29th....

I have now shot 50 arrows with in a 10 mins or so, must admit next time i'll do them in batches of six rather then 12's, the target was getting a bit crowded, and I was worrying about breaking my new arrows before i been in the woods....

I may just walk into the range if I dont get the key for the gate soon so I can have a good go at really letting the arrows fly....
