Snow chain advice needed, do these chains fit?

I purchased some chains on ebay, the seller stated that they fit 235 16 tyres. The packaging suggests that they were made to fit 750 16 and as we know, these are 45mm narrower than 235s. I can't get them to fit, the photos show my best efforts...

We have the same type of chain for the vehicles at work and they are easy to put on without any difficulty. Yours do look a bit small for the tyre shown .

Have you pulled the red chain through the locking system as tight as it goes?

Yes, I had to deflate the tyre and use a jemmy to get it on!

With ours I just pop them over drive forward and tighten them up, no bother. I must admit I'm no expert other than a user but it does seem like you have been sold the wrong size. Ebay seems to be full of chancers...

My understanding when i looked at them, is the large heavy duty outer cable locked into itself or near enough, but thats all i know!
