Much improved now. Back to her pre-episodic strength and energy levels and her appetite is back. I'll start easing her back onto dog food tomorrow.
All of the ones recalled are from Gravy Train. I'll post a link to the article (including the list) after my reply to Janne. Many are made or packed in China.Jeez! I hope it's an American only brand because we've been thinking if wet food with dry for our pup. Don't want to risk anything like a euthanasia drug in food. We don't tend to get to hear about a lot of recalls in the UK. I think America's got q better system for recall.
No. It was chicken I used (others were on the list) Here's the article with the list: www.cnn.com/2018/02/18/health/dog-food-pentobarbitalI think they use animals ( pigs, cattle) that has been euthanized for animal food. Not suitable for human consumtion.
I have read they also use cats and dogs, but I think that is just an urban myth..
Chicken. Chicken are euthanized using an injection?
Because that is the only way it could get into the chicken.
Weird!
I think there is another animal species used in that food.
I remember the horse fiasco vividly. But I want to eat ‘what is says on the tin’.
Chickens here are euthanized by gassing them. I suspect it was a disgruntled employee.Chicken. Chicken are euthanized using an injection?

Thanks. Me too.never heard of those brands. Looks like an American supply only. Thanks for posting link. Always worth making sure.
I.hope you're dog is fully recovered now.
Here if the label says chicken then it must be chicken (Truth in Labeling) That said, i agree manufacturers probably don't always follow the rules.Dog food isn't specific to an ingredient. Horse, pig, cattle can be included without the manufacturer having to state it, it's just labelled "meat derivatives".....
Regarding human consumption, it wasn't long ago there was a scandal in the UK where some beef mince products were found to be made with horse meat, sometimes 100% horsemeat. If it can happen in human food, then it can easily happen in the pet food industry.....l
Tanks. Me too (about my dog getting well. And likewise about wanting the human food labels to be truthful......I am happy Santamans doggy recovered well.
Edit: I do not mind eating horse. In fact I used to buy it in Calais and bring over to UK. But I want to eat ‘what is says on the tin’.
Nice Danish sausage!Try the Danish sausage, they didn't try to sneak things past anyone.

Yeah, they can do the same thing here too. But if chicken's the only "meat" listed, then it has to be all chicken (no "meat" or "meat derivatives" were listed)Phenobarbital isn't administered as gas though, it's injected. I think. If the UK product say chicken, then the meat content must be predominately chicken, but that can be 4% chicken and the rest listed as meat derivatives. That allows for a larger percentage of mixed meat derivatives......
