Wierd the compulsion to buy loo paper. How does it help deal with the virus?
I can understand hand sanitiser and flu meds but this bog roll shortage is a total mystery to me.
Luckily I bought mine a month ago.
Tesco are rationing baked beans

I suspect people are expecting to stay home for a while without going back out shopping. Besides, if they’re buying beans they’ll need the extra loo rolls.

You need a lot of loo paper ( and air freshener) when you eat all those
beans.

Did we stock up?
Two bags of easy cook brown rice, one 24 pack of a nice version of a Jap. instant noodle dish, 2 gallons of Jamaican still mineral water.
One gallon of veg. cooking oil. 2 cases of beer.
Wine I have plenty off.

Our situation is a bit different. We rely on 99% of our food being imported.

Coming Thursday we are flying to Norway. The yearly Screi Cod fishing!

As long as the weather is good enough for me to take out my boat. If not, pure relaxation in front of the wood burner!
Two weeks of chilling! I need that.

Media have created a monster. Totally unnecessary.

Drink Corona (Mexico). There's a Nation on my continent that believe they will die it they drink Corona beer.
They are too stupid to comprehend the circumstances. Maybe 250 million of them.

I'm more concerned about the cost of the limes for the bottle wedges.
Personally, I want ales from the local mountain brewery.

Seriously? Haha
I must be weird, I like seeing people panic and lose their minds while convincing themselves it's being "prepared"

It makes a lovely soft bed. Well, with the amounts I see being bought, it can’t just be for the once or twice a day it’s actually needed.

I could understand the loo roll thing if it was Norovirus or dysentery, but this one doesn't come with that bonus free gift!
These people need to start looking at their consumption : of loo roll and possibly calories/exercise too. Judging by the amounts some are obviously buying their backsides must be huge!

.......Or maybe it's to do with all the cr*p we are being fed on the cv19 (not a problem its under control) global warming (it's not man made its normal and natural) Brexit (won't go into that)food shortages (we have stockpiled)etc etc etc.
Buy a flannel and use nappy san like our mom's did when we were kids (and they didn't have washing machines so they didn't have to use their hands. Scub by hand with a scrubbing brush and boil in an old saucepan. ) so stop panicking and stockpile a couple of flannels each and nappy San! You'll be way ahead of the crowd.

I see that there's going to be a good supply of Corona in stock now.
I bought some. I'm hoping I get some happy thoughts of warmer weather that the -17C/0F this morning.

Italy will soon be locked shut. Just 16,000,000 people in the northern provinces so far.
I know how to make my own pasta.

I thought the correct name for this pestilence is COVID-19.
The genetics people now think there may be 2 kinds of it.

Read somewhere that smokers have more ACE2 receptors on their cell surfaces than normal people. Wuhan corona seems to use that site to get into the cell. And Chinese men are known smokers. Hmmmm... TINFOIL!

And a lot of the durum wheat, the semolina, is grown in North America as well.
I usually buy Unico pasta sauces, cooking oil etc, Canadian company.
Being fond of all sorts of olives, I like Greek kalamata olive oil.

Now it's reported that bats carry some 500 different viruses (were bats really the original animal source of COVID-19?)
If ACE2 is important, what's with the expanding problem in Italy?

I was grocery shopping on Friday, 2 days ago.
One little grocery store for the village (650 people).
I didn't notice any lack of stock.

As it's a fair trek to any decent sized shops and I often don't have a reason to go into town that often I tend to keep a decent stock of essentials. It seemed sensible to add an extra pack or two of loo rolls to the last shop, along with other every day items that don't go off, when you here of places being locked down for a few weeks/months. What puzzled me was being told no one should stock up.

The way they socialise.
Kiss kiss, crowded bars, voices at higher decibels.

(That is my unqualified guess :). )

I do not understand why a such high mortality rate there. Substandard medical care?
Italy was very well organised once upon a time. Huge land improvements, efficient eradication of Malaria, etc.

No country publishes any statistics yet. Age, previous medical status, info like that.

Only inflated scare propaganda.
We know : age over 50 - slightly heightened risk.
Age over 70 - much higher risk.
Previous medical issues - higher risk.
Smokers - slightly higher risk
Combine.
So similar to most other influenzas.

Yearly death rate ( influenza) in UK vary between 1000 and 10 000.
So no need to buy that pallet of mama Heinz’s best beans

But please buy toilet paper, just make sure it is made from Swedish pulp.
Sweden appreciates your business!
:)
