Anyone read this? Any good?

I'm asking because I've finally decided England isn’t for me. So the process to get out begins with me going back to school and getting educated.
I'm going to university to study geography. Trouble is, I don't know anything about it! Other then the fact I want to spend the remainder of my working life with a pack on my back, and untroden ground underfoot. So geography seemed the best option. If I never get there, big deal, it'll be a laguh trying.

I've been told to get the "Student's Companion to Geography" to learn the actual geography stuff. But I'm looking to pick up a couple of books orientated on expedition skills, relative to geography if possible. But encompassing all skills is useful. I’m hoping to get qualified in all sorts whilst at uni, so I’ll be immediately employable, or at least taken seriously by grant making organisations.

The one thing that I heard about the "Royal Geographical Society Expedition Handbook" is that it has a section on fundraising, something a wannabe adventurer will need to know a lot about!

So, what recommendations have you got?

Raz,

Good luck mate, when your able to run your own expeditions to deepest darkest whereever to study strata or some such remember me!!

Anyway it is a good book, full of detail and revelant and useful information. Some section might be a little ong winded but over all I'd say it is a excellent refernce peice.

I have found it very handy many time recently.

Cheers Gary, will do

Got at least 3 years of sitting indoors and living from safeway savers to look forward to first!

Well it'll be the weight off your bones! And maybe by then Beaclaw will be big enough to train your expo teams!

You never know - but good luck anyway and if I can help just drop me a line.
