Does any one know if you can walk from Floyds Fields into the site.

Kim and I will be walking in from tile hill station with all our kit so being able to trim a bit off the walk would be of help.

Floyds field is the playing field which touches on Tanners lane.

There's no access at all via Floyds Field. Give me a moment or two and I'll try to put the two possibles up through Google Earth ;)

By all means we can come along tanners lane and in the same ways as cars, 20 foot saved is 20 foot Kim does not have to give me a piggy back!!!

The only entry/exit is the main entrance on Tanners Lane ~ but, if you wish, you can shave a small amount off the road route ;)

The two routes are depicted by the red lines :D

The road route doesn't have a pedestrian path for the whole way ...

Or there's an alternative which shaves a bit (not much, 0.1 of a mile iirc) off of the distance ~ the bit across the fields in this second pic is via a 'proper' footpath, but you will need to navigate at least one style.

Thanks for the prompt response.
At the moment I am thinking of putting the rucksack on to an "old lady" shopping trolley! So will wander down tanners lane to the front door. Glad I asked as we would have been banging our heads against the fence.

Look forward to seeing you all and that.

No worries ;)

Fine for the road and the first part of the drive. Second part of the drive and on the site's tracks .... well, video it for 'posterity'? :D :lmao: .

If you have them then chunky, pneumatic, tyres will become valued friends ;)

Glad I asked as we would have been banging our heads against the fence.

Only after you'd climbed out of the ditch :p

... and once over the fence you'd be stuck in the boggy back track

Worth carrying for 500m to save km's of having it on my back is the way I am thinking.

Bit more on the ditch ...

With the recent wet I was quite interested to see how (or whether) the ditch work had been of any benefit ...

PC.11 side of the path, plenty of water in the ditch but the path side is quite reasonable ...

And looking over the path from the other side of the path, standing water ... :yikes:

One of the issues we have we have is the perma-bog on part of the access path to PC.11. And the issue causing that is the lack of maintaining the ditch lines around the pitch ~ so the last couple of visits have been to try to allow the water to move more freely :canoe: :D

Leaves slow the passage of water, then break down and add further layers to the issue :( ...

Same bit of ditch showing just how much water is actually there ...

A couple of good stretches have been shifted and hopefully, the work will prove useful to us all :) .

... hard work ...

Benefits us, benefits the site :D

Got a good bit to do yet, it's still quite odd seeing water running freely on worked stretches ;)

And it's possible that the quick 'Let's see what happens there if I do this here ...' of a fortnight ago has given that first bit of perma-bog a firm patch ~ if you know where it is :)

Hopefully* the communal fire wood's sorted. At the time of typing it's looking like the cost is going to be something like £2.00 per person per night.

* It is sorted, but until it's _there_ I prefer to consider it as a 'hopeful' ;)

I was hoping to bring a bit of kit to the meet and then write a review. It will now not be available until I have left home. Does anyone know if I can get stuff sent to the sites address or has done this in the past. I am thinking .... give them my mobile number and be in the site car park or some such deal.

Any ideas folk
