Removing anodised finish

Does anybody know a quick and easy way to remove the anodised finish from aluminium torches. I am somewhat fed up of any colour so long as it is black, and would much prefer something I have a chance of seeing if I drop it in the dark?

Caustic soda will eat the finish and take it back to matte silver

Sandpaper to remove it. But there are better options if your goal is to make it easier to locate in the dark:

1) Wrap reflective tape around it (whatever flourescent color you like)

2) Just sell the old one on and buy a new one in a different color.

Caustic soda, but be careful as it will erode aluminium if you leave it immersed too long.
