I had a go at making a knife with limited resources. I made it from stuff we had left over. The blade is a snapped electric hacksaw blade and the handle a piece of leftover beech. The leather was a piece just big enough, left around.

The extra deep grind is a slight slip with the grinding wheel, but the rest has a flat grind and is razor sharp. It was about 4 hours to sharpen it as it's tool steel - that's the reason there are no rivets as even after annealing the drills just wouldn't make a dent.
I'm pleased that it seems to do the job and it's all recycled materials, something close to my heart and I am now working on blades I have bought. I'll have a go at forging if I can get near a forge. It's not the best, but it's a start.
