I've made a little rawhide container and it is currently drying. I was wondering if anyone on here knows how I can in some way waterproof it to enable it carry liquids? I was very interested in trying to make a rawhide water bottle or something similar.

Also, what else could I try making with it perhaps?

Thanks for the help

I proof leather drinking vessels using a very common (and traditional) method by immersion in molten beeswax. However, I've never tried it with rawhide. After it cools, I then pour a spoonful of molten wax into the base of the vessel and quickly pour it out along the seam line, to give a bit of additional proofing along the joins.

I actually did the beeswax earlier before I read that. I'm pleased to say it worked!! It has now kept the shape and hardness and is also holding water.

Cheers
