Granted tantalus - it's sod all use without either glycol or simiar, or sugar. I personally dont walk around with antifreeze. Or PP for that matter...

But it does have a property that might be useful in snow -it makes on hell of a big purple stain...

That's the one - if that's not firelighting....
Another point I don't know if it has been touched on, but the toxic effects can also be absorbed through the skin.... I found this out after trying to treat a mild case of Affleets foot for a week
