Postmen = Lazy

I was meant to have a package arrive on Friday, a much anticipated package at that. But ohhhhhhhhh nooooooooo, the CWU has decided to go on strike AGAIN. What is up with all of those postal workers? Why do they strike any chance they get? WHY are they all so lazy?
Do they not care about CUSTOMER SERVICE or are they just too stupid to comprehend what it is?
I don't care why they're on strike, they strike so often it seriously takes the ****.

You try getting up at 4:30am six days a week, fending off undisciplined dogs and endless cries of "Have ye got ma giro, postie?", doing a 10 mile walk with a 35-lb bag on one shoulder, and then tell me who's lazy.

I'm very sorry that your package is late, but these guys are fighting for their jobs and pensions. How would you feel if you've put in 40 years of your life, only to be told "Oh, we're changing the pension plan. You're not going to get what we told you you would."?

I would be pretty annoyed if i had worked my bottom off for 40+ years and then told i wasn't getting what i was expecting from my pension.

I don't think its the postmen, just the Royal mail as a whole has gone down the pan.

Its not the posties fault their employers are ****.

I don't think that the postmen / women are lazy as Dunc pointed out above.

What the strikers must understand though, is the more they strike and disrupt the service offered to the general public, the more likely Royal Mail are to lose their customers, hence Royal Mail staff lose their jobs, and with many alternative methods of delivery becoming available I feel they are walking a fine line.

I manage a law firm, and to send letters / parcels to other businesses we use a different company, simply because they are more reliable on a daily basis, cheaper and as far as I know haven't striked at all in the last 10 years.

With other companies now coming onto the market Royal Mail and it's staff aren't doing itself any favours with all this strike action and disruption they are putting upon the general public.

Before you whinge and moan on here about the postal service why dont you try and find out why they are striking in the first place, you are not the only one with delayed postal deliveries. I am sure your package will turn up. Different topic , but i have not had any running fresh water for nearly 2 weeks due to floods and no post because the postman cant get through, im not ranting or using bad language ! !

I would feel sorry for the posties if it wasn't for the fact that they aren't making Royal Mail suffer, all they're doing is ***** off the customer. Royal Mail don't care if their workers go on strike, after all it's not like there is any real sort of alternative for people to use if they want to send a letter.
Most public sector pension schemes are in trouble at the mo, not just the posties, And the only reason they are in trouble is because they were too damn generous in the first place.
There are many jobs where people get a bum deal - bad working conditions, bad pay, bad hours and no pension. They are the ones I feel sorry for. Posties start on 256 quid a week with 4 1/2 weeks paid holiday, and a pension (although not as nice a pension as before). Around here all the posties drive vans, so it's not like they have to walk any further than the garden path.

Not all posties are "around here" - where I live, they have upmteen hundred flights of stairs to climb every day. And "the garden path" adds up a lot when you walk a couple of thousand of them a day.

While it's true that there are many jobs were people get a bum deal, that's not a great argument for making other people's jobs worse. I mean, on that basis I could argue that anybody that isn't living off the food scraps in litter bins is doing just dandy and could stand to be taxed a bit harder. I bet you're doing better than the 3 billion people in the world living on less than $2 a day, so how about we come round your house, sell all your stuff, and give the proceeds to the poor?

I don't believe your problem in receiving a package is relevant to a forum about Bushcraft. You have expressed your unhappiness with the situation and others have expressed their views. Can we leave it there since its not really relevant

Well there went my quiet sit down.

S orry you're having issues with the posties, I quite like mine.

I do take note though that this isn't really bushcraft and swearing, even in abbreviations, isn't allowed.
I'm going to close this one on the hope that the strike is resoved sooner rather than later.
