OK - I post to much for my own good!
I am coming up to 6000 posts - so here is another competition to celebrate another posting milestone....

The prize will be a PDF version of my book "A Basic Guide to Making your own, Budget, Bushcrafting Equipment" - which means that I can send out the prize anywhere in the World without it costing me an arm and a leg!

So - the question you all have to try and answer is......

"What is my current favourite combination of equipment, tinder and kindling for fire lighting in dry weather?"

You may wish to include items such as (for example) Hand Drill - Ebony on Lignum Vitae, Belly button fluff and Dormouse nest for tinder, Iron Wood bark and twigs for kindling .

None of the above are the correct answer......

Lots of possibles to think around, one try per person and who knows how long before I get to 6000 posts. Comp closes when I get to the 6000th post!

Sir! Sir! Me!! Me!! Siiiirrrrrrrrrrr!!! (Waves hand in the air from the back of the class).

Is it a packet of swan vestas matches and a can of lighter fluid?

Hahaahaaa, sorry I just couldn't resist. :)

Congratulations on your forthcoming milestone or should that be millstone?

All the best

Liam

I'll get back to you on this one John. I'm currently working my way through 5,927 postings looking for clues. :D

Finally I've found there's a good side to having OCD and being a stalker ... except for the restraining order thingy.

Kylie just doesn't understand that my intentions are purely honourable :dunno:

If you're reading this Kylie, let me have your address and I'll return the uh... "items" from your washing line :o

One of your own hand crafted steels, bit o flint, home made char cloth to hold the ember, and some fluffed birch bark to catch the flame....

Cheers,

normally we see your wet weather kit but on that rare occaision(once) that it didn't rain that must have been your dry weather kit.

Candle stubs melted with sawdust and shavings and a lighter!

Nope! - that is my real desparation kit!
I aint used a lighter in years! Even in the rain I use cottonwool/vas and a sparkstick :) - I do carry lighters (plural- one turboflame, one disposable) "just in case" - if I can spare the weight...:)
