'WARNING FROM POLICE

THIS APPLIES TO BOTH WOMEN AND MEN

BEWARE OF PAPER ON THE BACK WINDOW OF YOUR VEHICLE--

NEW WAY TO DO CARJACKINGS (NOT A JOKE)'

Heads up everyone! Please, keep this circulating... You walk

across the parking lot, unlock your car and get inside. You

start the engine and shift into Reverse.

When you look into the rearview mirror to back out of your

parking space, you notice a piece of paper stuck to the middle

of the rear window... So, you shift into Park, unlock your

doors, and jump out of your car to remove that paper (or

whatever it is) that is obstructing your view. When you reach

the back of your car, that is when the carjackers appear out

of nowhere, jump into your car and take off. They practically

mow you down as they speed off in your car.

And guess what, ladies? I bet your purse is still in the car.

So now the carjacker has your car, your home address, your

money, and your keys. Your home and your whole identity are

now compromised!

BEWARE OF THIS NEW SCHEME THAT IS NOW BEING USED..

If you see a piece of paper stuck to your back window, just

drive away. Remove the paper later. And be thankful that you

read this e-mail. I hope you will forward this to friends and

family, especially to women. A purse contains all kinds of

personal information and identification documents, and you

certainly do NOT want this to fall into the wrong hands.

thanks for reading carl

Wow.
If you fall for that then you deserve to lose your car.
Do they take any passengers you have as well? Mmm...think I may volunteer to take my mother to the supermarket...

** WARNING **

This is not a hoax!

A gang of professional thieves are targeting bushcrafters, mostly males.

What happens is this: you're out in the woods when a nude young woman comes up to you claiming she's lost her Gransfors Bruks Small Forest Axe, and asks whether you'll help her search for it. Obviously remembering the spirit of the campfire you help her look, and while you are assisting her another nude young woman rugby-tackles you from behind, then they both pin you down and take your hammock / knife / headtorch / ventile jacket etc.

They are very good at this... I was caught 5 times last week, and twice this week since Tuesday (I've not been able to find them so far today).

Yep, this happened to me too back in 1991 in Sevenoaks but with the difference that I managed to wrestle the brunette back into my then Lightweight Land-Rover and the rest is, well, history! I believe she returned all my kit but certainly not my heart;)

Cheers!

Good grief. Please check www.snopes.com before posting chain letter rubbish.

The scheme operating here (UK) is you give the car dealer your old car* and he gives you £2000ish off a new one - much more civilised.

*restrictions apply.

and relax:rolleyes:

Humpback, I'm guessing that you've seen thearticle highlighting how many manufacturers are upping car prices to above the scrappage discount ?

I do love Snopes and other sites. always my first port of call when I get a chain e-mail.

Can we get these sort of things posted into 'Other Chatter' rather than 'Bushcraft Chatter'? They have nothing to do with bushcraft and so are actually in the wrong place.

Then, people can post hoaxes/warnings/etc, to their hearts content and it doesn't appear in the wrong forum.

Sensible?
