One knife or different knives for different occasions?

I've been thinking about this a lot lately. Do you have different knives for different occasions or one knife you use consistently?
Over there years I've amassed quite a collection of fixed and folding knives. Daily carry is usually one of my Case or GEC traditional knives, if I'm walking then my Enzo pk70 or similar, work will be my Leatherman wave with my CRKT Pilar, Spyderco ukpk or Real Steel Luna. If I'm out for a serious bumble I'm favouring my Roselli Bear claw. Over nighters or out in the woods for the day then an axe and small puukko (Roselli Carpenter is the choice at the moment) .
Overnight or woods for the day with no axe then it's my Brecfa bushcraft knife. There's other combinations but these are my most used at the moment, I'm new to the Roselli knives but really rate them.

What combinations or single knife do you favour?

I have a real steel Luna and it lives on me permanently.

fixed knives I only take if I am out on an overnighter or day in the permission woods I go to (not been for ages) and then I will vary which fixed blade i take depending how I feel more than anything - I will still have the Luna on me though, or a small neck knife

That said, the Spyderco Military in 52100 that I scored just before Christmas is all I have carried since the day it arrived. That's nearly four months now, which is very, very unusual.

On the other hand, I did just rustle out this GEC #21 Bull Buster for a play. Maybe there's a sign.

My EDC is a victorinox Rangergrip 79. It routinely comes with me into the woods or hills as well. I also have an SWC Woodlore and thats been very well used on almost every trip as well.

In my bedside drawer I also have a Mora Robust. It gets used in the garden or in the garage nowadays. There's also a leather stacked puukko which I had made for my son, when he comes of age to have it. It hasn't cut a thing yet.

Morakniv Garberg in the rucksack.
Opinel No8 Carbone in kitchen bag and on the table.

Hultafors OK4 on the farm but more to try it out. The knives above would do the jobs better and it's just a question of time until I will gift it to my nephew.

Different knife for different occasions, of which means if 'the one' is lost or broke, something else will do at a potential pinch.

Comprising;

Billhook (Devon Pattern), Mora Classic, Leatherman Juice Xe6, Swann Morten scalpel No3 handle with assorted blades, and lots of them.

There are some others, but the above is what I have chosen for my goto 'tool kit'

In pocket: stainless steel clasp knife, very thin profile, single lockable blade. Used to carry an Eka Big Swede but it was damaged lately (and Eka couldn't or wouldn't fix it...I am still grieving)
On belt: Morakniv Kansbol (love it but would prefer a full-tang Garberg, just can't really justify the extra cost right now)
Or, on belt: (in really dense jungle, rare these days though), Martindale No. 2 golok with a tempered convex regrind and a sturdy custom sheath made for me by the late Paul Evers.
In pack: Bahco folding saw.

(Old-school kit and probably quite unexciting compared to modern blades available and mentioned here, but all my others are in an attic in UK waiting to be sold!)

A knife to me is just another tool - I worry less about 'what it is' and more about what it can do. I live in the middle of nowhere so carry a knife all day every day. Out and about walking the fields and woods it's my swiss champ; I've rescued many a ewe from the fences with that, even having to saw through the wires. Smart wear, about town, it's my Allox Farmer (though that will be swapped soon for a Farmer X as my most used SAK tool is the scissors!). Working in the wood it's the Swiss Champ plus my home made belt knife - I've not bought a fixed blade for over 30 years.

have to agree there Andy. The right tool for the right job. Since getting a sak hunter at Christmas I have currently used a fixed blade, but I'll be using one soon for processing fish soon enough and carrying on the yak for rope cutting. Right tool right job though as you say. Very happy with a small axe, samurai saw and sak.

I always have my Alox Farmer X in my pocket; sometimes, that gets swapped for a Casstrom Lars Falt locking blade; for times in the woods and/or longer days out, I change the last for a Ben Orford Woodlander and a Silky saw.

Of course, it does depend on what I am doing or intending to do but, as an absolute constant, it's the Farmer X.

Day to day carry - a nice antler handled SAK and an antler handled pocket knife.
In the woods - well I have amassed a substantial number of fixed bladed knives (many customised Moras) from big to little, so tend to have the right tool for the job ... plus a spare or two ... so I may be carrying a Billhook, a Mora, a SAK and an Opinel on the same trip - or just a customised Stiff K.I.S.S or a home forged Wharncliffe....it all depends!
And then there are my specialist carving knives of various sizes and shapes...
I have a lot of knives....

I usually edc a SAK, usually a Huntsman or Farmer. Sometimes I'll go for a Sheffield made lamb foot, but usually when I do that I end up needing one of the tools on the SAK.
Round the yard at home, or in the woods (with permission) I take whatever fixed blade I fancy.

this is more difficult to answer because a legal (and this is very different form country to country) edc (knife) is in most cases not the best one-tool-option

so for me (in germany §42a) a fixed legal up to 12cm could be a good compromise in this question

so actually the tops fieldcraft 154cm is that legal o-t-o knife

but i prefer a combination of a smaller kneckknife whiteriver fc35-pro and a lager modified (two-hand) folder witch is in germany also legal: coldsteel rajah-ii-aus10a and i wear also a legal multitool (no one-hand opening) modified asmc leatherman-super-tool-300m-black

No, that are just back ups.
That's a usual FAK, a French Army Knife.

The other looks like a civil Laguiole, every French patriot owns one.
I think the Opinel is the usual EDC there and the Laguiole reserved for sundays and special events, for example if you know that you will use the FAK.

Yes indeed, correct on both counts. I built the FAK and several others like it.
They were really a fun day in the shop to make.
Gathering dust, the wines I like are put up in screw-top 1.5l bottles.
That Laguiole is the real thing, a gift from far away.
