Thanks Woodspirits, I was going to refer to David Thompsons `The People of the Sea` Which gives Irish versions as well as the Scottish ones.

`Selkie` is a Norse word (Correctly reffering to the Grey seal...there are no common seal seal folk) but the Gaelic is `Rona` a girls name.

Is seal skin legal in the UK was under the impression it was not ?

Technically, yes i believe it is :eek: but then i am not importing it in large quantities, I just have a quarter of a seal skin as a gift from a friend, so fingers crossed i'm not in any serious trouble :)
