I clove hitch a 10" piece of shockcord into my guys to use as self tensioners, there's some good threads on HF with similar ideas. They act in two ways by tensioning up any slack after rain or moisture but also add some safety with strong winds.

This is a bit like mine but I attach mine differently

Just another +1 for bungy hook injuries. A friend I was camping with last year had a bungy hook miss her eye by less than half an inch. Just hurty. Could easily have been blinded tho. I've had them fail too (years lashing down kit onto motorcycles) but never been really hurt, maybe that's why they make us wear crash-helmets! :-D
