i am now attempting to make nettle cordage i have harvested my first stinging nettles all about three feet long i have managed to separate the fibres from the pith and have managed to make my first piece of cordage only four inches long could someone now please tell me how to join in a new piece or recommend a site with pictures as i am struggling and getting frustrated thankyou gary

When adding new fibres just lay the new fibre along side the one already being made into cord. Pinch the two together and keep going.

Are you using the thigh rolling technique or the the rope lay technique?

A lot of people use the thy rolling technique but i dont like that method. By using the rope lay technique i think you have more control over each twist in the cord and i can make stronger cord this way.

simply lay the new strands side by side with the old strands and carry on twisting exactly as you have allready done. Make sure you stagger the join, feeding in one strand, twisting the two together for a couple of inches before twisting in the new strand on the other side.
