Just an ordinary birch besom works fine.
Birch pole with birch twigs. They catch fire sooner or later but they go out with just a knock.
You don’t smack the fire; you brush it and pat it. Brush the burning material back into the burned area.
A shovel can work if you sort of roll it over the burning material but it’s hard work.

The conspiracy theorist in me can't help but wonder if some of these fires are being deliberately started to help create a narrative to push for more net zero measures?
Yeah I know that sounds crazy but it makes you wonder though. They do seem to be desperate to push the net zero agenda at every possible opportunity.

I'm very sure they are. It's happening everywhere...except where certain types of people used to live before they spread to Europe...now that is a conspiracy theory to work with.
Plus there is a pressing need to destroy farmland and build these new ai centres what for...I have no idea of course.
As the saying goes, never attributive to malevolence what can best be explained by incompetence. Poor rubbish collection, people tossing fag ends around, broken glass - just general lack of countryside maintenance (you should see some over the central reservations down here - tinder boxes).
Yeah, I’m a huge fan of conspiracy theories, but the setting fire of land to push a narrative is the most ridiculous paranoia I’ve heard in a while. It’s burning cos it’s very hot and very dry. There’s mashed up fine material everywhere that only needs a spark.
Hope everyone is signing the NEB petition to their local MP. The agenda ought to cover a bit more than the banning of disposable BBQs.
Sounds deliberate to me: Tell the Police now. Ask they or the Council to tell, not ask , the landowner to cut the field now - its an unacceptable health and fire hazard, and there are indications/possible deliberate fire starting.
Can the path be temporarily closed to the public, resident access only? Same as they do with road works so the legal provisions already exist.
Depending upon how many homes back onto this path a residents group may get some interest (or self-interest!) - a standard invite letter pointing out the current risks posted up a few times along the path, a common Whatsapp group they can join and post comments about any sus person seen on the path, local power/water etc happenings. etc. Offers of surplus produce, making fire brooms, etc etc.
The fact that there is one, or appears to be one, can scare off strangers or rein in errant neighbours/kids. Besides all the social good and getting to know your neighbours it can generate.

The number of people saying they didn't read the alert - yeah right! If you didn't get it then fair enough but if it popped up, you read it.
Not quite. I didn't get it as I've turned off notifications as I don't want some random alarm going off if I'm driving.
My OH has them turned on, it didn't come through when it should have done as we don't have mobile reception and connecting via WiFi is a bit flaky. When it did come through she tried to stop the alarm noise and must have cancelled the message and can't find a way of seeing it. So we both ended up looking for it online.
Accidentally removing it is a bit different to actively not reading it which loads of people have said they did (or didn’t)

I wouldn't called that stupid - I would call it having enough common sense to work things out yourself. Neither are you frustrating anything.
True, which also raises the question, is there disregard due to a major loss of trust and belief in the government by the public, irrespective of political party?
UH huh, ---Police arrested four 14-year-old boys on Friday on suspicion of arson after a “deliberate fire” was started near Pleasant Heights in Porth, Glamorganshire. They were later released on bail.
By refusing to read it you have no idea what you are ignoring.
Would you ignore an extreme weather / flood/ tornado warning? You would if you didn’t read it!
