Metal waterbottle why do you use one

I have one of the oblong ones in the red cotton cover. It fits very nicely in a ruck's side pocket.

Yeah I've seen those advertised (used ones now-a-days) I believe that's the exact reason that shape was designed and adopted by the Scouts during the time period they were popular.

I use both plastic (58 pattern) and metal (Sigg and Sigg clone) ... my Sigg types are prettier (one printed with leaves one a "limitted Edition retro Sigg, one Sigg in a mug) but my 58 has no dents.
All work well, do not flavour the water too much or leak.
Nalgene is kept for the "P" bottle....

+1 for the Guyot designs. You can do a lot with them including cooking as well as drinking. The 18/10 steel is super tough as well.
