Maybe worth a watch?

AJB's right Locky you can't watch anything unmissibale again on the iplayer outside of the UK, at least I can't here in France. Most annoying. Someone (sorry I forget who) posted a link so I could potentially watch Channel 4's River Cottage online. I haven't tested it yet. My freeview digibox doesn't receive that station whereas our Welsh neighbours down the hill get it fine.

Anyway, about last night's show. Much better, still had the dramatic bias but I suppose they need that element in it to hold the attention of the oiks who are more used to a reality show's format.

------ SPOILER ALERT AHEAD! ------

I was very impressed with the woman in this one, she seemed very willing to really get stuck in and not play the 'weak and feeble' woman card. The bloke who came top did surprise me coming up from behind like that and pipping them at the post. I was sure he was going to fall flat on his face despite his previous experience. I preferred her effort though. The market trader was eager enough but his effort was a bit too weird.

All in all a really good programme. The smelting was fascinating. As for the general blacksmithing; I so want to have a go I can taste it!

Sadly I did not record this one. I swore at the box when I noticed that it was not recording. Then minutes later, when I checked the schedule I blushed and begged forgiveness from the box (and wifey, who does NOT appreciate that colour in my vocabulary).

The HD version was not broadcast at the same time. It'll be broadcast next week. Some silly rugby game was on the HD channel at the time. Ho hum.

That was/will be the 3rd in the series of 6 programmes. I don't want an iPlayer that lets me watch past programmes, I want one that lets me watch FUTURE programmes :D

Here's the BBC listing showing when the programme is on during the next two weeks for those planning to watch it live or who want to set up recordings: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00qvrcj/episodes/upcoming

I can't stand having to wait so long between shows. They still bug me a bit with the camera seeming to prefer showing us people's faces rather than the work. We see Monty yabbering with the woman and the camera shows them both, then cuts to him, then to her, and all the while I'm shouting at the TV "LOOK DOWN DAMN YOU - SHOW US THE GATE!". lol

You got that right MattF. I can count on 3 fingers programmes I go out of my way to make sure I watch per week. The rest are ... dross, though harsher words spring to mind.

Just for your info those progs are: Mastercrafts. 7 ages of Britain and ... (why do I know this one's gonna get me ribbed mercilessly)... Larkrise to Candleford

The latter being an accurate depiction of rustic lifestyles and habits of the mid 1800's :lmao:. That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it LOL!

Glad it all worked out in the end Bhofmann. Welcome to the 21st century eh? Heheheheee!
